Loyalist Mayor Bill Lowry was named L&A Warden

I went to visit with our Mayor now also Warden of Lennox and Addington yesterday to congratulations him on now being our Warden for our County, as well as sitting at the head of Loyalist Council.  He told me that he thought it was good timing with the upcoming 1812 Bicentennial  happening this summer on July 1st weekend in Bath.” And there will be lots of exposure for our township”.  If you don’t understand what a warden is he sits as head of the county at County Council meetings, and represents all of Lennox and Addington now which is great for us in Loyalist as he will be also representing our property taxes at both levels of municipal and county.  To learn more about this story read the link below that was written in the Napanee Beaver.

Bright light at Christmas time in Bath, Grocery Store Has Sold Sign on it.

Yestereday the village was waiting in anticipation to the outcome of our local grocery store that has sat empty for over a year. Was a sad day in Bath when I had to say good bye to my friends Gary and Joanne that had run the grocery store in Bath for around 15 years. But yesterday there was a light at the end of the tunnel for the businesses and locals of Bath and surrounding area.. The grocery store building owners Mary Kay and Harold Brough could not find a buyer for the building after being closed for so long decided to put it up in a auction yesterday Dec 13th. When all was said and done  Dave  and John Hinton brothers bought the building. Dave is also the owner of Loyalist Marina and the brothers  Jim and John Hinton also have been developing the Wateredge Estates in Bath.  We now have 3 restaurants on Main Street.  385 Main St Joys Hair and Wellness Company is now home of the Community Welcome www.welcomewagon.ca  for Loyalist township. So if you have never been welcomed officially to our township let me be the first to welcome you with a letter from our Mayor and community local information along with free gifts from our local businesses. Stayed tuned for more news coming soon.

ATVS and Snowmoblie Bylaw

If  you have keep a eye on this website you would of seen back in the 2010 municipal elections that in my public speach that I would be running for Deputy Reeve I addressed  how I though this banning and bylaw was ridiculous in a mostly rural township.  It  took  a year and a new council to see that it wasn’t working… yet one more thing that the old council got wrong.  It  also shows  that others  and myself  never gave up which resulted in old bylaw getting dissolved with a new bylaw going into affect that will go alot like this.

Joy Silver To all that attended the April 11 you made a difference.
The issue was reviewed by Council at an Administration Committee meeting held May 2, 2011. The following resolution was adopted:
that staff prepare two separate by-laws for motorized snow vehicles and off-road vehicles for Council’s consideration and to incl…ude the following points:

a) That Off Road Vehicles be allowed to cross intersections;
b) That ATV’s be allowed on the shoulder of all highways but not in the ditches;
c) That snowmobiles be allowed in the ditches but not on the shoulder along all highways under
the jurisdiction of Loyalist Township, except within the urban boundaries of Amherstview and
Bath.
d) That the existing by-laws relating to regulation for snowmobiles and off-road vehicles be
repealed.
And further, that staff be authorized to negotiate the location of ATV trails with ATV Clubs.

VOTE On May 2nd and Happy Easter

I used to think my vote didn’t matter when I was younger.    I was uneducated in the political world.  Since then I have did alot of research, been a landlord,  run two  successful businesses and  ran as candidate in the last 2 municipal elections. I am now educated but always looking to learn more.

If you care about where you live,  how much taxes you pay,  if  your  air and water are  protected, or how our health care and pension plans works in the future,  you need to VOTE.

Your vote will make a difference.

Residents sound off  at  South Fred landfill proposal.

But what they didnt say is they want to truck this garbage through Millhaven and Bath.   Read front page of  Napanee Beaver this week. And see the snowmen that were built at Bath Public School close to 100 of them

Big Thanks goes to Patrick Blednick

I have to  give a big thank-you to  Digiwire Services  my good friend Patrick Blednick for developing  this website for me.   His dedication to my campaign made a huge difference in the outcome of the Loyalist 2010 Elections.   I am honored to have worked and learned from  Patrick,  and to have him as my manager for the 2010 elections,  and to have him as a personal friend over the years.

His work on this project and others will never be forgotten.

Patrick is my hero.. Thanks again Patrick for all your hard work.

Wind Turbines on Amherst Island

Click To Enlarge

The issue of Wind Turbines on Amherst Island is one of the most controversial issues in Loyalist Township. I do not profess to be an expert on the subject, but I do worry about the effect on our environment, our wildlife and the preservation of our wonderful community.

To get a better understanding of what is involved, please go to the following two excellent websites -  Amherst Island Wind Info and Wind Farm Realities – where everything is explained in great detail.

Joy Silver and Canada Day

Joy Silver, head of Bath’s Canada Day Committee, had a banner day on July 1st as the historic Loyalist Township community once again celebrated Canada Day. The fun-filled day has become a tradition in Eastern Ontario and is the oldest, continually running July 1st celebration in the country.

Joy Silver in Bath’s Canada Day parade

“It was the best Canada Day I can remember,” says Joy, who took time to ride a horse in the always popular parade. “There were thousands of people and everyone had a great time, young and old.”

In case you weren’t there, here is a video of some the happenings on Canada Day in Bath.
